God Himself Perfect–Part 1

Chapter 7 – Part 1

“I was also perfect before Him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity”

“… With the perfect Thou wilt shew Thyself perfect…”

“As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him.”

“It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect” Psalm 18:23,25,30,32

“As for God, His way is perfect.” In all He does, and all He is, He is perfect. God is the perfection of goodness and beauty. In nature and grace, in heaven and on earth, in the greatest and the least, everything that is in God and of God – down to the very hem of His garment – is infinite perfection. If men who study and admire the perfection of His works, if saints who love and seek the perfection of His service and fellowship, only understood it, they would see that only in God Himself can perfection be truly known and found. As for God – this is the highest we can say of Him, though we can comprehend but little of it – His way is perfect.

He maketh my way perfect” Of God’s perfection this is the chief excellence – that He does not keep it for Himself: heaven and earth are full of His glory. God is love, who lives, not for Himself, but in the energy of an infinite life. He makes His creatures, as far as they can possibly receive it, partakers of His perfection. It is His delight to perfect all around Him. It is especially His delight to perfect the soul of the man who rises up to Him. God would have perfect harmony between His servant and Himself. The Father wants the child to be as Himself.

The more I learn in adoring worship to say, “As for God, His way is perfect,” the sooner I will have the faith and grace of the Psalmist to say, “He maketh my way perfect.”

Life of Holiness

The very God of peace sanctify you wholly—1 Thessalonians 5:23

The great tide is bearing up the stranded ship until she floats above the sand bar with neither straining seam nor struggling seaman. No need now for the ineffectual and toilsome efforts of the crew and the strain of the engines which had tried in vain to move her an inch before that heavenly impulse lifted her by its own attraction.

God lifts up, by means of His sunbeams, the mighty iceberg which a million men could not raise a single inch, but which melts away before the sun’s warm rays and rises in vapor clouds to meet its embrace until that cold and heavy mass is floating in glorious fleecy clouds in the blue ocean of the sky.
