Spontaneous Love

Oswald Chambers 90x115by Oswald Chambers

Love suffers long and is kind . . . —1 Corinthians 13:4

Love is not premeditated—it is spontaneous; that is, it bursts forth in extraordinary ways. There is nothing of precise certainty in Paul’s description of love. We cannot predetermine our thoughts and actions by saying, “Now I will never think any evil thoughts, and I will believe everything that Jesus would have me to believe.” No, the characteristic of love is spontaneity. We don’t deliberately set the statements of Jesus before us as our standard, but when His Spirit is having His way with us, we live according to His standard without even realizing it. And when we look back, we are amazed at how unconcerned we have been over our emotions, which is the very evidence that real spontaneous love was there. The nature of everything involved in the life of God in us is only discerned when we have been through it and it is in our past.

Wait on The Lord–Part 1

James Smith 90x115by James Smith

"Lead me in your truth, and teach me; for you are the God of my salvation; on you do I wait all the day." Psalm 25:5

The Lord intends to keep his people dependent upon himself. He has everything they can need. He intends to supply all their needs; but he will be applied to. He will have his people wait on him, and wait for him. In doing so, he will try their faith, fortitude, patience, and perseverance. He will sometimes put them to a severe test, but he will never fail them, forsake them, or leave them destitute. If they trust in him, plead with him, and wait on him, they will be raised to a state of comparative security, for they need not fear any man, or any circumstance, or any state they can be in. The Lord will be to them their God. He will do for them all that God can do; and that is, all they can require, all that is consistent with their welfare and his own glory.

Faith of Abraham

Jesus Is Lordby Yeshua (Jesus) is Lord

Are you believing a promise of God? Against hope, Abraham believed (Romans 4:18). Have the Faith of Abraham!

And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:6

For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:13

The Hal Lindsey Report 4-29-11

Hal Lindsey 90x115by Hal Lindsey

Today, Syria is on the brink of collapse; Egypt is beginning its descent into Islamic fundamentalism; Nigeria teeters on the cusp of a Christian/Islamic civil war; and Saudi Arabia, furious over President Obama’s foreign policy ineptitude, is reaching out in frustration to Russia and China. The only way I can put these dramatic developments into the proper perspective is to say that we are seeing end-times prophecy literally exploding before our eyes. National alignments and strategic threats thought almost impossible only a few weeks ago are now reality.

That virtually screams one thing to me: the Rapture of the Church is even closer than we believed!

Looking Ahead To Christ’s Return

J.C. Ryle 90x115by J.C. Ryle

A true Christian has a good hope when he looks ahead: the worldly man has none. A true Christian sees light in the distance: the worldly man sees nothing but darkness. And what is the hope of a true Christian? It is just this, – that Jesus Christ is coming again, coming without sin, – coming with all His people, – coming to wipe away every tear, – coming to raise His sleeping saints from the grave, – coming to gather together all His family, that they may be for ever with Him. Why is a believer patient? Because he looks for the coming of the Lord. He can bear hard things without murmuring. He knows the time is short. He waits quietly for the King.

Activity Is Not Enough

A.W. Tozer 90x115by A.W. Tozer

Those who try to give warnings to the Christian church are never very popular. Still, I must voice the caution that our craze for "activity" brings very few enriching benefits into our Christian circles. Look into the churches, and you will find groups of half-saved, half-sanctified, carnal people who know more about social niceties than they do about the New Testament. It is a fact that many of our church folks are activists engaged in many religious journeys-but they do not seem to move up any closer to Jesus in heart and in spirit. This modern religious emphasis on activity reminds me of the Japanese mice I have seen in the pet store windows. They are called waltzing mice-but they do not waltz. They just run continually! Many in our churches hope to have a part in "something big and exciting." But God calls us back-back to the simplicity of the faith; back to the simplicity of Jesus Christ and His unchanging Person!

Why The Devil Hates Joseph’s Tomb…

Bill Randles 90x115by Bill Randles

By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.(Hebrews 11:22)

And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.  And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.  So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.(Genesis 50:24-26)

Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made the sons of Israel solemnly swear, saying, “God will surely take care of you, and you shall carry my bones from here with you.”(Exodus 13:19)

Coming For Silver and Gold

by Michael G. Mickey

In the prophetic future we’re told that an alliance of nations led by modern Russia and Iran are going to attack the nation of Israel during a time when Israel will sense it is dwelling in a measure of safety and noteworthy prosperity in the presently troubled Middle East.

The attack I’m referring to is commonly referred to as the battle of Gog-Magog and it is described in the book of Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39.

Chief among the suspected motives behind this future attack described in bible prophecy, at least from the perspective of nations who will watch it unfold from afar, will be Israel’s abundance of material wealth – silver, gold and the like.
